What Condom Sizes Did Apollo Astronauts Wear In Space?

During the Apollo program, in order to help astronauts urinate in space, NASA developed the urine collection assembly. Inside this urine collection assembly was one 1lt bag and the attachment to the body was made possible by using a condom with holes in the end so that astronauts could urinate right into the bag.

But there was a problem.

The condoms came into three different sizes: small, medium and large. But few astronauts, whatever their real dimensions, were willing to accept they were anything but large. Therefore, they were all getting large but the condoms were slipping off. So, here’s what NASA did to address the issue. (the article continues after the ad)

To solve the problem and avoid offending the astronauts, NASA found a creative solution. They changed the categories!

They changed the names to large, gigantic and humongous! The small size became… large hence, it was acceptable.

Genius.
