Does This Discovery Explain The Bermuda Triangle Mystery?

The Bermuda Triangle has been for centuries one of the world’s greatest mysteries. Why so many ships and planes have been lost when entering the “Devil’s” region formed by Florida, Bermuda and Puerto Rico? Should we blame the paranormal for all these weird disappearances?

Well, a new discovery may shed a light on the mystery and, as you might have guessed, the paranormal has nothing to do with it.

Researchers have found giant undersea craters which could be signs on why vessels went missing and were blown to smithereens, to end up at the bottom of the sea. These up to half-mile wide and 150ft (46m) deep craters are believed to have been created by a built-up of methane: (the article continues after the ad)

Methane is thought to have leaked from natural gas deposits that are located below the sea bed and, when the pressure is too high, the cavities eventually burst. Russian scientist Igor Yeltsov explained that:

“The whole process creates a huge amount of gas that makes the ocean heat up and ships sink in its waters mixed with a huge proportion of gas. The crater area is likely to represent one of the largest hotspots for shallow marine methane release in the Arctic.”

Even though we can’t be certain that this is the reason why many planes and ships have been disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle, scientists believe that this is the most valid explanation. After all, the Bermuda Triangle itself is not a matter of discussion in the scientific community as the statistics say that the tragic incidents in the area are just slightly higher compared to other areas of the world and whatever is causing this small difference is not something that should worry us too much.
