Have you every wondered why cats always land on their feet? Well, thanks to BBC we now know.
Cats are so flexible that, while in mid-air, they are able to twist their spine in opposite directions. By spinning in two different directions at the same time, the caracal is effectively pushing against itself. In addition, they pull their front legs close which makes the front half of their body spin faster like a pirouetting ice skater. This creates a twist in their spine, allowing them to swing the back legs round and prepare for landing. The amazing thing is that all these happen in less than a second!
