Dolphins Have An Insanely Clever Way To Avoid Predators

Dolphins are amongst the most intelligent species. Some even say that they should be given the same status as humans. But we knew that, right? What we didn’t know is that their ability to stay alive is purely based on… their sleep!

Dolphins sleep with one eye open. More specifically, they sleep with half of their brain being active: one half of their brain is being rested and the other one remains conscious. This is vital for their survival since dolphins, need to periodically come up for air, and this is their way to avoid drowning while sleeping!

But this trick also comes handy in their fight against their predators and, trust me, the ocean is a place full of predators. Being “half asleep”, helps the dolphins keep an eye on their predators and immediately respond to possible threats. (the article continues after the ad)

That’s an insanely clever trick for survival, isn’t it? I mean, if you compare it with human’s way of avoiding predators which is basically “run for your life” this is a pretty advanced technique.
