This Is How Russians And Finns Kept Their Milk Fresh Before Refrigeration

Remember when we talked about How People Used To Refrigerate Stuff 5,000 Years Ago? Well, if you found that interesting, wait till you hear this one.

Long before refrigeration was discovered, Russians and Finns were reportedly keeping their milk fresh by… placing their brown frogs in it.

Yes, you’ve read that right – they placed frogs in their milk. In fact, this weird practice is even backed up by science. A research by the Organic chemistry Department, Moscow State University revealed that amphibians’ skin secretions are loaded with peptides, an a antimicrobial compound that helps against salmonella as well as staphylococcus bacteria that work as prescription antibiotics.

Cheers!
