How Many People Have Ever Lived On Earth?

The question of how many people have ever lived on Earth is one that keeps coming up. Back in the 1970s, a rumor started spreading across the world claiming that 75% of all the people that had ever been born, were actually alive at the moment.

But is this the case though? Do people that lived since 50,000 B.C. only account for 25% of all the people that had ever lived?

Well, according to a research made by the Population Reference Bureau (PRB), the rumor couldn’t be further from the truth. (the article continues after the ad)

Because as of 2011, 108.2 billion people have been born and lived on Earth.

This is a staggering figure and it becomes even more shocking if we calculate the number of people who have died. If we take away the roughly 7.4 billion people that are alive today, we are left with 100.8 billion people dead people. To put that into perspective, this is a 14:1 death to alive ratio.
