The Interesting Story Behind Behind The Accidental Invention Of Tea Bags

Most people don’t know this by tea bags were actually invented accidentally.

Here’s the interesting story.

At the beginning of the 20th century, a New York tea merchant named Thomas Sullivan, started sending tea samples to his customers but, in order to cut on costs, instead of sending them in the usual metal tea infusers, he was sending them in small silken bags: (the article continues after the ad)

The idea was that you had to remove the bag, take the tea out of it and put it into your metal infuser. Instead of doing that though, people started dunking the whole bag into hot water. Sullivan saw the potential in this new method and went on during the 1920s to create the first paper-made modern tea bag. The rest is history.
