Here’s Why Faking The Moon Landing Was Impossible In 1969

Many people have questioned the validity of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing. Conspiracy theorists claim that the landing was just a scene filmed on a sound stage in order to deceive the entire world. If you jump into Google, you’ll find a ton of articles and YouTube videos dedicated to prove that this was indeed a hoax, and plenty trying to debunk these theories.

However, according to Emmy winner Mark Schubin of Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers, faking the moon landing would have been harder than actually going to the moon. In fact, it was impossible to do it in 1969.

Here’s the interesting video of TruTV’s Adam Ruins Everything that explains everything: (the article continues after the ad)

As explained in the video, there are a couple of reasons for this. One of them is the shadows. If you look at the shadows, they are clearly the result of parallel sun rays with no diffusion, as the light source is 93 million miles way. The only possible way to recreate this on Earth, was by using millions of lasers. But lasers in 1969 were incredibly expensive and only came in red color. Sure, in modern times we could just use CG to change the color, but back in 1969, computers didn’t have this power.

Besides that, there’s also the problem of keeping it secret. Even if NASA had secretly developed the technology (computer graphics), an astronomical number of people would have to keep that secret, including a great number of world leaders and of course, Russia, U.S. space race rivals, who had every reason to prove them wrong.
