Okay, maybe the easiest way is a Google search but hey, you are a I’m A Useless Info Junkie reader, you are much cooler than that. So, without further ado, here’s how to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius (and Celsius to Fahrenheit) and be incredibly awesome at the same time.
Fahrenheit to Celsius
Let’s start with the Americans first. To convert temperatures in degrees Fahrenheit to Celsius, all you have to do is subtract 32 and multiply by .5556 (it’s just a bit more than half).
For example: (80°F – 32) x .5556 = 27°C
Celsius to Fahrenheit
And now for our Europeans friends. To convert temperatures in degrees Celsius to Fahrenheit, just multiply by 1.8 (just a bit less than double) and add 32.
For example: 20°C x 1.8 + 32 = 68°F
Here’s a small exercise to test yourself:
(a) Convert 100°F to Celsius
(b) Convert 5°C to Fahrenheit

So now you know. Next time your friends try to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius you can surprise them with you useless knowledge!
