We’ve all seen the label ‘Genuine leather’ but have you ever wondered what does it actually mean? Does it really means that the product is made out of high quality leather?
Well, this is what leather products manufactures what you to believe but it’s definitely not the case. Even though genuine leather means that the product is made out of real leather, it also means it is the lowest quality of all products made out of real leather!
There are 3 categories of leather: genuine leather, top-grain leather and full-grain leather. (the article continues after the ad)
The lowest quality of the three is genuine leather which, generally doesn’t last very long. It’s made by several layers of low quality leather bonded together with glue and then painted to look like a better-quality leather. It’s actually what is left over when the other, higher grades are stripped away.
The highest quality is top-grain leather and it’s the one you will find it in all the ‘fine’ leather products while full-grain leather takes the entire grain of hide and is often used for heavy-duty leather items.
