Yes, you’ve read that right: because the “Windy city” is one of America’s most murderous cities, the US military is actually sending its doctors for gunshot wound training at local hospitals!
When the combat in Afghanistan ended, the American military had to look elsewhere to train its military doctors. And what better training ground than a hospital that treats more than 600 gunshot wounds a year? At Cook County’s Stroger Hospital, military doctors get hands on experience treating civilian casualties, before helping injured marines in future combat zones.
No wonder Chicago has been described as a war zone!
