These Are The 28 Government Approved Haircuts You Can Have In North Korea

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, yet another North Korean bizarre story pops-up. This time is all about the haircuts and it’s hilarious to say the least.

The North Korean government has released a guide to the state-sanctioned haircuts and there are 28 to choose from, 18 for women and 10 for men.

Let’s look at them, starting by women. (the article continues after the ad)

Unmarried women are only allowed to choose from short, above-the-shoulder styles but, married women are more diverse. They can go with classy curls or even increase the length (up to a point of course).

But what about men?

Well, lads have only got 2 inches to work with (around 5 cm). Anything longer than that is not acceptable unless you are older than 60, in which case, you can go up to 3 inches (around 7,5 cm). According to the government, short hair is a matter of health so young men up until 18 years old are required to trim their hair every 15 days!

And if this wasn’t a parody already, the North Korean state TV put together a five-part series on how to maintain hair that’s in line with communist values:

I really don’t know if we should laugh or cry.
