This Is What Happened When Burglars Found Child Pornography On A Stolen Laptop

In 2008, a weird incident happened in the UK: After 2 thieves broke into a house and made off with a man’s laptop, they inspected the device, found child pornography and went to report the case to the the police regardless! 

Here’s the interesting story.

Richard Coverdale, who was 24 at the time, was found guilty form the Durham Crown Court after the burglars who broke into his house uncovered his crimes. At the laptop they stole from his property, they found images of child pornography and, despite being offenders themselves, they immediately contacted they police to report their findings: (the article continues after the ad)

As it turns out, Coverdale invented a 14-year-old character so that he could chat and exchange nude pictures with a teenage girl over the internet. On the laptop there were a total of 78 illegal files, 12 pictures and 65 movies.

The paedophile got 3 years in jail and the judge gave robbers a 12 month community service orders in light of their good deed.
