After Which Event Was Nero Burning ROM Named After?

As you probably know by now, here at I’m A Useless Info Junkie we are huge fans of advertising and marketing. And since product naming is an essential component of a brand’s identity, we just love it when we discover brilliant and clever product names.

One of this products is Nero Burning ROM, for years our favorite burning software.

Nero Burning ROM got its name by Roman Emperor Nero, who allegedly fiddled as Rome burned during the Great Fire of Rome in 64AD and is a pun reference to the term “burn” which is used when recording data in an optimal disc. This is also why the software’s logo is a burning Colosseum.

Nero Burning ROM(e). Brilliant.
